Stockholm Pride är djupt skakat av de fruktansvärda händelserna i samband med Christopher Street Day i Berlin, där flera människor skadades efter att ett fordon kört in i en folksamling. Våra tankar går till de skadade, deras anhöriga och alla som befann sig på plats när firandet avbröts.
Pride är en manifestation för kärlek, frihet, mänskliga rättigheter och allas lika värde. Ingen människa ska behöva känna rädsla när de samlas för att vara sig själva, stå upp för sina rättigheter eller visa solidaritet med andra.
Vi står sida vid sida med våra vänner och kollegor i Berlin och med hela den internationella hbtqi-rörelsen. I tider som dessa är det viktigare än någonsin att vi håller ihop och fortsätter försvara det öppna, demokratiska samhället där alla människor har rätt att leva sina liv i trygghet och värdighet.
Stockholm Pride har många års erfarenhet och stor samlad kompetens för att skapa en säker festival. Det systematiska säkerhetsarbetet är en viktig del av festivalens planering varje år. Inför år då vi har för avseende att byta plats i någon form påbörjas det arbetet redan innan innevarande års festival är genomförd. Det förberedande säkerhetsarbetet inför flytten till District i Slakthusområdet och den nya paradvägen genom city påbörjades före förra årets festival var färdigt. Ett arbete som sker i nära samarbete med polisen, Stockholms stad och andra berörda myndigheter.

Statement from Stockholm Pride in connection with the incident in Berlin
Stockholm Pride is deeply shocked by the tragic events during Christopher Street Day in Berlin, where several people were injured after a vehicle drove into a crowd. Our thoughts are with those who were injured, their loved ones, and everyone who was present when the celebrations were brought to an abrupt end.
Pride is a celebration of love, freedom, human rights, and the equal dignity of every person. No one should ever have to fear for their safety when gathering to be themselves, to stand up for their rights, or to show solidarity with others.
We stand in solidarity with our friends and colleagues in Berlin and with the global LGBTQI+ community. At moments like this, it is more important than ever that we remain united and continue defending open, democratic societies where everyone has the right to live safely, openly, and with dignity.
Stockholm Pride has many years of experience and great collective expertise to create a safe festival. The systematic safety work is an important part of the festival’s planning every year. For years when we have the intention of changing places in some form, that work begins even before the current year’s festival is completed. The preparatory safety work for the move to District in the Slakthusområdet area and the new parade route through the city began before last year’s festival was completed. This work is being done in close collaboration with the police, the City of Stockholm and other relevant authorities.
We are closely following developments and await further information from the responsible authorities regarding the circumstances of the incident.
