Rules of Conduct Stockholm Pride Parade
💖 Core Values
Respect for one another is fundamental for all participants in the Stockholm Pride Parade. All groups and floats must be familiar with and follow Stockholm Pride’s core values värdegrund as well as the parade rules of conduct. Respect for one another includes refraining from threatening, inciting against, or using violence toward any participant or spectator in any way.
Messages displayed during the parade must:
- Comply with the core values and rules of conduct.
- Relate to LGBTQI issues and/or people.
📜 General Rules of Conduct
- Follow all instructions and directions from Stockholm Pride volunteers.
- The parade is a public event under the Swedish Public Order Act Ordningslagen (1993:1617)
- Throwing objects to the audience is prohibited — handing out items is allowed as long as it does not create litter or disrupt the parade.
- Take care of your own trash — littering is prohibited.
(Confetti counts as litter; soap bubbles do not.) - Alcohol is prohibited for all participants.
- Face coverings are permitted as long as they do not disturb public order (see Swedish Act Lag 2005:900
- Maximum speed: 20 km/h.
(Please note that the parade usually moves at approximately 3 km/h.) - Maintain appropriate distance to the group ahead — do not drive too closely, but also avoid creating large gaps.
- Banners/signs in the parade may be a maximum of 3 meters wide.
Music
- Music must have been registered during float/group registration.
- Music is prohibited in the start and finish areas (a short soundcheck in the start area is permitted).
- Music may begin once you have crossed the starting line, must be lowered when passing parade announcers along the route, and must be turned off completely before reaching the finish line.
- Maximum sound level: 100 dBa.
If anything happens during the parade, contact Parade Management, section leaders, or group leaders located along the route. They are in contact with medical personnel and the police. In case of serious incidents or medical emergencies, call 112.
⚠️ Consequences
If parade participants violate the rules of conduct or act in a way that seriously jeopardizes the safety of the parade, the Parade Director or their appointed representative has the right to immediately terminate the participant’s continued involvement in the Pride Parade.
Any fees already paid will not be refunded.
🚛 Vehicles
- It is prohibited to get on or off vehicles and/or trailers during the parade.
- Wheel marshals are required throughout the entire route:
- Passenger car: 1 marshal per side.
- Truck/bus: 1 marshal per wheel axle (or connected bogie axle set).
- Maximum height: 4.0 m.
Wheel Marshals
- Must be highly visible and uniform in appearance — preferably wearing reflective safety vests.
- Must remain focused on their task and may not leave the side of the vehicle.
- Vehicles may be inspected by traffic police regarding road safety and environmental zone regulations. Vehicles with deficiencies may be denied permission to participate.
- Vehicles longer than 12 meters require a special transport exemption permit. Participants are responsible for arranging this if applicable. Contact: [email protected]
- Do not cover the radiator — risk of overheating.
👨✈️ Drivers
- Drivers are responsible for ensuring that wheel marshals are in place and remain focused on their duties throughout the parade route.
- Drivers must prevent theft of the vehicle and may not leave it unattended.
- Bring keys/starting devices with you if leaving the driver’s seat.
After the Finish Line
- Continue driving along the designated route.
- Unloading must take place at the designated unloading area.
🛻 Rules for Flatbeds and Trailers
Swedish Transport Agency regulations regarding student flatbeds and carnival parades apply: Transportstyrelsen regler om Studentflak och karnevalstag
- Maximum height: 4.0 m.
- Protective railings must be at least 110 cm high, and seats/benches must be securely fastened.
- No dangerous edges or uneven surfaces are permitted.
- Direct communication with the driver is required (e.g., an active mobile phone connection).
Driver Requirements
- Minimum age: 21 years.
- Must have held a driver’s license for at least 2 years.
- Only one stable trailer is permitted.
(Exceptions may be made for so-called “tour trains”.)
Safety Tips
- Carefully plan travel routes to and from the parade.
- A designated flatbed supervisor can improve safety.
🏢 Prideification
“Prideification” is Stockholm Pride’s way of explaining what is required to participate or drive as a float in the parade. It should be visible and clear that this is a Pride Parade!
For all participants required to pay a fee, the following also applies:
Commercial Participants (Companies)
- Signed agreement and participation fee paid.
Other Organizations, Associations, and Government Agencies Registering Vehicles
- Vehicle fee paid.
All participants must also provide:
- An approved statement of intent.
- An appropriate description of the expression/message presented in the parade
(submitted during registration).
Improper advertising may result in demands for changes or termination of participation.
🏁 Finish Area
- Vehicles and walking participants will separate after the finish line.
- Vehicles will continue along the designated road to an unloading area.
- Follow all instructions from volunteers.
