Sold-out schlager, marriage and Lill-Babs
7/31/2008

When the gates opens in Pride Park today, there will be extra Thursday tickets released. The Thursday tickets have been sold out since last week. The legendary schlager night will be greater than ever with 28 artists, of which 3 are Eurovision Song Contest winners who’s never been on the same stage before. Lill Lindfors will make her Pride debut and together with Mark Levengood she will guide the audience between skirt fabric, plateau shoes, glitter and glamour.
- Be in place early if you haven’t already bought your ticket, encourages Anna Söderström, press manager of Stockholm Pride.
During the day in Pride House, there will be a debate about marriage and whether the law about gender-neutral marriage will be LGBT Sweden’s greatest victory ever and if a change of the law is really the goal.
Volvo AB and IBM Svenska AB will give their workshop about inclusive leadership. The Green Party will arrange a one-day conference called "The Forces Behind Hate Crime" and Teaterförbundet together with Svensk Scenkonst will put focus on the development in stage, art and movies.
- I think that the Theatre house should be open to new ways of cooperation. When it comes to Pride, I think the festival has developed into a centre for the most important questions i society today, says Benny Fredriksson, theatre manager at Stockholms stadsteater, one of the participants at the seminar.
On Thursday in Pride Park, Teaterhögskolan will present the result of their summer course for young LGBTQ people. On the roof of Kulturhuset, Bitch & Ferron will perform, as well as Frida Selander. Stockholms stadsmuseum together with Strömma kanalbolag will guide the visitors through Stockholm’s LGBT history with different focuses.
In Pride Park, apart from schlager, there will be dance with Wizex on the Dance court, and Cissi & Nour will perform together with Maud Lindström on the Culture stage. On the same stage, Lill-Babs will start the afternoon with a visit in Pride Park before leaving for her autumn show tour, which she says will be her last.
Stockholm EuroPride 2008 is celebrated from July 25-August 3. For more information about the programme, visit www.stockholmpride.org. The gates open at 12pm and the festival area opens at 2pm.
