Record parade and gala

8/2/2008

The Pride Parade leaves Humlegården at 1pm with 152 sections and despite the grey weather there was long queues by the ticket booths in Pride Park when today’s tickets were released at 12pm.

- We have been breaking the records concerning number of visitors every night, yesterday night there was over 12.000 visitors in Pride Park, says Alf Kjeller, Pride Park manager.

In the parade there will be many news this year. For example the Swedish Migration Authority will participate for the first time.
- To participate in the Pride Parade is a good start for the authority’s work with LGBT issues, we want to create a dialogue and an open environment, both for our co-workers and for our customers. We want to give more attention to LGBT issues within the authority now, for example we just started a specific network for these issues, says Mikael Ribbenvik, substitute director-general for the authority.
More news this year is a swimming pool, and that the Fire services will participate with three fire engines. At Slussen, Robert Fux and Tasso Stafilidis will present all sections when they pass by.
The Parade gala starts already at 4:45pm and will be visited by for example BWO, Alcazar, ETO, Kick, September, Starpilots, Diamond Dogs, Isabel Guzman and Elin Lanto.
