Hate crimes, transgender politics and hiphop

The second day in Pride House focuses on the situation of transgendered people, and the violence that LGBT people suffer from.
- What happened the night before yesterday shows that this issue is still as important as ever, says Jonah Nylund, chairperson of Stockholm Pride.
RFSL together with the Swedish Police Authority arranges a one-day seminar in English called ”Hatecrime, discrimination and same-sex domestic violence”. Centrum mot Rasism has a seminar where they present their annual report for last year. During the day, there will also be discussions about honour crime against LGBT people with representatives from Liberal Mångfald and the organization ”Never forget Pela and Fadime”.
“Forum för levande historia” gives the seminar "Sterilized, castrated, lobotomised”, that with a historical and modern LGBT perspective discusses for example the connection between the castration law and the de-criminalisation of homosexuality. The legal expert and transgender activist Dean Spade participates in a discussion about the connection between transgender politics, the war against terrorism and radical anti-racism/feminism.
Laughter, cry, pondering and love is promised by the theatre group Qaos, which is an empowerment project for young queers.
- The young people have been telling eachother about themselves. Now they perform the group’s work in front of audience for the first time, says Qaos’ producer Victor Bernhardtz.
There will be more normbreaking when Charlotte Rivero invites the visitors to dance queer tango, and RFSL Ungdom gives a workshop about norms generally and heteronorms specifically. Apart from that, Ulfhild Olsson Westin, from Democratic initiative, gives an active discussion workshop aiming to create a space for visionary queer feminists under the name "Queer utopia?"
- I will be moderator and all participants will be a part of the panel, Ulfhild Olsson Westin tells with a happy smile.
On the roof of Kulturhusets, God-Des and She will perform, as well as the British hip-hoper QBoy. He will also finish the opening night of Pride Young in the premises of Lava, where RFSL Stockholm’s youth hang-out Egalia will move in on Tuesday.
