Sweden's first and only space hero Christer Fuglesang comes to Euro Pride and the festival area Pride Park. Fuglesang will enter the Park Scene on Wednesday July 30th to present Arrival - the closest we can get to ABBA.
- It is really exciting to have been asked to come to Stockholm Pride and Euro Pride, and I am looking forward to experience the festival first hand. It is extra fun to be presenting the group Arrival. Abba has been my favourite since the time I was a child, and Waterloo was the song they played when I made my first walk in space, Christer Fuglesang says.
Christer Fuglesang is a senior lecturer in particle physics and was selected to be a part of STS-116's crew on the space shuttle Discovery in 2002. He became famous all over Sweden when he became the first Swede in space on the 10th of December 02.47.
In the middle of July, NASA announced that Fuglesang will be making a second journey into space as early as next year. The 30th of July 2009 he is estimated to participate in a journey to the international space station ISS. This time it will be the space shuttle Atlantis that will be the astronauts home for about 12 days.
In total, NASA is sending a crew of seven members. Their task is to bring the astronaut Nicole Stott to the international space station and also bring another astronaut, Tim Kopra, home to earth. On the space shuttle there is also food, clothes and technical equipment that will be delivered to ISS. Three space walks are planned where reserve parts will be changed and Fuglesang is expected to perform two walks.
Christer Fuglesang and Arrival will be on the stage in Pride Park in Tantolunden at Södermalm during the Wednesday evening on the 30th of July.
Christer Fuglesang will also be signing and selling his books in the Info centre at Pride Park during the Wednesday evening. Click here for more information: Autograph signing at the Info Centre
