Commedia dell'arte goes queer
Text: Laura W, photo Petra S
There was heavy rain in Kungsträdgården in the morning, but from the main stage warm and colorful notes were spread over the audience as the dance company ERI and their orchestra gave us a queer and playful Mozart.
It was difficult to settle who were the most colorful: the dancers and musicians in their commedia dell'arte outfits, or the audience in their raincoats and umbrellas. The two dancers from ERI played out a love story on stage with soft movements and silent humor. A female harlequin and her lover defied obstacles and worries together to finally find each other in a magnificent finale with an abundance of loving kisses and beautiful tulle.
The music was provided by the Sergio Gaggia-quartet and the pianist Andrea Rucli. The tones resounding over the park engaged the rain-struck audience and were from time to time accompanied by laughters from the gulls in the air.
