Break genderborders
Martin Halldin starts his lecture with the human bodies borders and the local is crowded and stuffy as in Hades. It´s obvious that the subject attracts many people. Halldin presents tre different male bodies with provoking propreties.
Men that breast-feed, pregnant men and intersexuals are examples on provoking body ideals. Intersexualism is a condition that means that you can´t decide at birth which gender the child has. You can count that 0,2-2% of everyone born in Sweden have some of the 30 different hormone or genetic conditions that count to intersexualism. 5 children each year are operated in Sweden, mostly to girls because it's a simpler surgery.
Why it is so provoking for people how you look and what you can or cannot do is hard to answer to. But Halldin talks about two gender models and that the society wants to maintain a gender order, because otherwise it will “collapse”. The public is laughing:
-Is a man's breastmilk equal to a woman's? asks someone in the public crowd. Halldin answers that there is no information about that and that the scientists simply do not know.
-On the other hand you have genderscientists that have discovered amazingly 343 genders. Ten thousands, 343 or none at all, in the end it´s all about the right to your own body and life, ends Martin Halldin.
