Backstage interview with The Arrivals

Backstage interview with The Arrivals

Red: Helena H P

The ABBA honouríng group The Arrivals played on the Big stage on Wednesday evening for a large audience, after coming home from a three week-tour in the US.

The Arrivals started in 1995 from a idea of Vicky, one of the groupmembers, that imitates Anni-Frid Lyngstad. The members of the group grown up with ABBA and say that there are so many good ABBA songs that it's hard to fit them all into one concert. They have toured in China, Vietnamn, the US and Australia and say that they feel like ambassadors for Sweden when they're playing abroad.

-In the beginning, when we played in the US there were only a few people in the audience that knew anything about Sweden, but after some time, the knowledge inceased. It's so charming with live performances and our audience is amazing, we have a huge LGBT-audience, she says.

-Almost 50% of ABBA was the appearance, says the groupmember that copies Agneta Fältskog and she thinks that the happy music is one reason to the LGBT-community's interest.

-We were asked last year if we wanted to participate in this year's Pride festival, and of course we answered yes, adds Vicki.

The group is often taken for being the real ABBA when they are outside of Sweden, but they are meticulous with pointing out that this is not the case and that their work is a praise to ABBA.
