Article one
We strive to create an equal society, even though there still are groups which neither are represented in the history books nor in the institutions which are supposed to tell the tale about our own time. To be accepted and confirmed by the institutions that formulate our society is still not a fact.
§1 is the biggest exhibition project with a LGBT theme in Sweden so far. It is a powerful statement for the groups that have for so long been invisible in historical and contemporary literature. The Sea Historical Museum (Sjöhistoriska museet), the Army Museum (Armémuseet), The Nobel Museum, state exhibitions, the Etnographical Museum (Etnografisk museum), The Historical Museum (Historiska museet), Technical Museum (Tekniska museet) and SIDA (a non-profit charity organisation) are getting together to make this powerful statement in a manifestation for the gaping holes in our history and will show that everyone has a right to be represented in our common history.
The result will be shown at Båthall 1 at Galärvarvet, in Djurgården in Stockholm from the 25th of July to the 24th of August 2008. The culmination for the project will be during the EuroPride (25th of July to the 3rd of August). The exhibition cooperation is planned, after the completion in Stockholm, to partly head out on a tour in eastern Europe.
Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 12:00-17:00
During EuroPride, (25th of July to the 3rd of August) the exhibition will be open every day.
