Graffiti workshop and masquerade for young people during EuroPride

Masquerade at Göta Lejon, debate about the new anti-discrimination law, graffiti-workshop in Pride Park and Pride Ung (Pride Young) at Lava. These are a few example of activities for young people at Stockholm EuroPride, that since a few years have a lower price for youth and many of the activities in the city has no or a low entrance fee.

- For us it is important to be present in Pride Park, where we will let the visitors try our BRYT! workshop, and also to arrange activities that are alcohol free and has a lower entrance fee than most other places. This year our youth party is a masquerade party at Göta Lejon, says Felix König, president of RFSL Ungdom, the Swedish youth federation for LGBT rights.

The LGBT youth hang-out Egalia, arranged by RFSL Stockholm, moves their activities to Lava and will have a grand opening night on Tuesday July 29, which will end with a performance by the British rap artist Qboy.
- Egalia’s visitors have decided the programme themselves. We will keep Egalia open for four days and apart from the parade workshop there will be an open stage where the young people can perform themselves, a comic strip workshop with the American artist Roberta Gregory as well as the art exhibition "Heterosexual in landscape", tells Katarina Stenkvist, project manager at RFSL Stockholm.

More youth hang-out there will be in Pride Park, where Tuben’s youth creation centre from Farsta will visit Stockholm EuroPride and will offer t-shirt printing and a ”dream box” for wishes, where young visitors will get the chance to carry out their dream projects.

- This is the dream project of the girls in charge. They wanted to challenge themselves by running this and creating a meeting spot for like-minded youth, says Carolina Baecker, youth coach at Tuben that runs projects with the support of money from the municipality administration.

Stockholm EuroPride is opened on Friday July 25 with ”Pride Sing-along at Skansen”. Pride House is open at Stockholms stadsteater and Kulturhuset from July 28 – August 1. On July 29 Pride Ung opens at Lava and Pride Park opens on July 30. The masquerade party is at Göta Lejon on August 1 and the Pride Park takes off through Stockholm on August 2.
