How Hetero are you?
Mona Sahlin is more hetero than Obama in Stockholm Pride’s test Tuesday was the day that Stockholm Pride launched its cyber test “How hetero are you?”.
During the first 24 hours, over 65 000 persons visited www.stockholmpride.org and 60 000 twitternames have been tested. You just put your username and click whether you are male of female.
The test then analyzes that persons last 200 posts on Twitter and depending on the user’s choice of words the test calculates a percentage of how hetero that person is. -
- “We have constructed this normative test to show what society looks like. We want people to reflect over the unwritten rules and expectations that come with gender and sexuality”, says Jessica W Sandberg, Head of Press at Stockholm Pride.
Amongst the tested twitternames are:
Mikael Persbrandt, actor - 86 percent hetero
Mona Sahlin, party leader of the Social democrats - 84 percent hetero
Barack Obama, president of the USA - 61 percent hetero
Britney Spears, artist - 81 percent hetero
Lindsay Lohan, actress - 85 percent hetero
“How hetero are you?” is also available in English and - just like the Swedish one - is based on over 2 000 words which are more or less heteronormative.
-”The first hour we hade 12 000 visitors at www.stockholmpride.org who made the test which led to our servers almost crashing. I think this is proof that people - both in Sweden and around the world - think that we chose an interesting and an entertaining way to lift these questions”,
Jessica W Sandberg, Head of Press at Stockhom Pride, concludes. This is part of Stockholm Pride’s campaign for this year’s festival. This year’s theme HETERO focuses on heteronormativity and how it affects homosexuals, bisexuals and transperson’s every day life, what consequences it brings and how it affects society as a whole.
