Pride is party, love and politics, but not everyone is allowed to celebrate Pride. Because of this, Stockholm Pride is today symbolically blacking out the front page of its webb site.

Stockholm Pride have chosen to do this action today, when Värmland Pride is celebrated in the West of Sweden, since the organisers of Värmland Pride have received death threats by people telling them not to carry out the event. Stockholm Pride also has a delegation in Karlstad, the main city of the event, to support the organisers and to underscore the importance of Pride events being held.

– For many people around this country and around the world it is still difficult to live a full life in the open. A day like this, I am sending a thought to all those sisters, brothers and other siblings, says Pär Wiktorsson, President of Stockholm Pride and present at Värmland Pride.

The manifestation at stockholmpride.org takes place 12:00-18:00.
